We are looking for an innovative Manager of Data Science to help dive strategic initiatives that will push future strategies and continuous growth at Pangea. The Manager of Data Science will be responsible for conducting research, designing statistical studies, and analyzing data to discover new ways to impact our business and deliver value to our customers. This position will be a key contributor to all data-driven functions and will report directly to the SVP of Growth.

You are the right candidate for us if you are a scientific thinker with a curious mind, ready to take on the challenge of making data easy to consume by everyone in the company and uncovering insights that can drive meaningful impact to the funnels and overall performance. We would also appreciate if you are comfortable working with big data, you write code on R or Python, you are familiar with relational databases, you will impress us with some of the algorithms you have built in the past, and you are constantly researching about state-of-the-art machine learning techniques .

Responsibilities

Enable data driven decisions across the organization by leveraging the wealth of data that we possess (ranging from transaction activity, geolocation data, mobile device data, marketing performance, etc) to generate actionable dashboards/reports.

Employ exploratory and predictive data analytics methods to solve problems and identify behavioral trends and network effects.

Use your expertise to guide our data science priorities as we refine our data warehousing strategy and build out more sophisticated optimization tools.

Create a refined segmentation scheme to understand usage patterns and behaviors in order to target the most profitable users and maximize customer lifetime value.

Lead pricing decisions based on sensitivity analysis, historical competitor data and multi-variable regressions.

Refine the company’s exchange rate algorithm to maximize user growth while achieving profitability goals.

Develop machine learning models to improve the level of sophistication of our messaging, risk mitigation and other behavioral-centric decision making engines.

Help mentor and grow the Data Science team.

Qualifications

6+ years of experience as a Data Scientist, Predictive Modeler, or other analytics professional role

BS/BA or Ph.D.​ ​in​ ​Computer​ ​Science, ​ ​Engineering, Mathematics,​ ​or​ ​relevant​ ​field​ ​experience

Practical ability to visualize data, communicate about the data, and utilize it effectively

Complete fluency with SQL and/or various database management systems

Experience in data modeling, ontologies, and statistical analysis required

Experience with data quality/curation, evaluation, scoring, and enrichment required

Strong hands on skills in Python development, other languages desired (ex: Scala, R)

Experience with machine-learning and/or graph analytics technologies desired

Experience prioritizing and leading multiple projects and initiatives

Experience with data visualization tools (we use Tableau!)
