Customer Data & Analytics (CDnA) is a cross-functional team within the Windows and Devices Group (WDG) Marketing organization which provides data and analytical support for teams across Microsoft.
CDnA provides Digital Marketing Data & Operations for most of Microsoft’s primary consumer brands, including Xbox, Windows, Surface and Bing. The Marketing Data, Analytics & Operations team manages a comprehensive consumer dataset which provides the foundation for high-volume digital marketing execution across multiple channels, including email, first and third-party web, paid media and in-product messaging. The team also provides analytics and data science support for its internal marketing partners to help them understand the performance of digital campaigns in detail, as well as build effective targeting strategies for future campaigns.
This role provides overall leadership for the CDnA Marketing Data, Analytics & Operations team, which is a multidisciplinary team that includes data program managers and engineers, marketing operations specialists, and data scientists. The individual in this role is responsible for managing and developing the team, as well as providing strategic direction and guidance as the team’s responsibilities and deliverables evolve over time. This individual also acts as a senior-level ambassador for the team, building deep relationships with marketing stakeholders and engineering partners. The role requires a combination of data, technical and business skills, especially in digital marketing.
Specific responsibilities for this role include:
Managing delivery of over 20B digital marketing communications events per annum to Microsoft customers of Windows, Xbox, Bing, Surface, Hololens, Rewards and other consumer brands
Managing and enhancing a comprehensive customer dataset, to power customer-centric digital marketing across multiple consumer brands and digital channels;
Managing a hybrid marketing technology platform, comprised of a combination of internal technology and commercially available solutions from strategic partners, and identifying new third-party solutions that could provide value;
Delivering innovations in digital marketing delivery and optimization, including the use of machine learning techniques;
Managing the overall data infrastructure for CDnA, across proprietary internal platforms and Azure-based infrastructure;
Delivering value-added analytics for internal marketing stakeholders, to enable deep insights into campaign effectiveness and audience characteristics;
Representing the work of the team to senior audiences across Microsoft;
Partnering with product engineering teams to drive implementation of technology solutions to enable digital marketing objectives;
Managing a substantial third-party vendor budget efficiently and effectively, and driving strategic partnerships with third-party suppliers to deliver high-value solutions to Microsoft;
Partnering with legal and privacy teams to ensure that the team’s activities and managed data comply with Microsoft policies and legal requirements (such as GDPR legislation);
Managing and developing a multidisciplinary team of 20, providing career growth and opportunities as appropriate;
Building a close senior-level relationship with Marketing stakeholders and providing thought-leadership in digital marketing practices and approaches.
10+ years of Program Management or Product Marketing Management in a Digital Marketing environment
The successful candidate will have (Preferred Qualifications): :
A proven track record of designing and delivering successful data systems & capabilities, particularly at high-scale using big data technologies
Strong business acumen, and an understanding of Digital Marketing techniques and practices
A background in BI or analytical disciplines, including measurement and decision science
Strong aptitude for business technology, and the use of technology to address business needs
Excellent problem-solving and cross-functional collaboration skills
Strong communication skills, along with a high level of comfort presenting to executive audiences
Academic background in an engineering discipline and Master’s degree/MBA is a plus.
