Software Quality Engineer

Boeing Space & Missile Systems is seeking a Software Quality Engineer (Level 3) who primary role would be supporting the Ground-Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) Program Technical Maturation and Risk Reduction (TMRR) effort. A significant part of this program is the development of classified software, which requires independent software quality assurance verification and validation.

 

 

Primary Responsibilities:
Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Defines and maintains program level software quality engineering processes, resources and infrastructure
  • Prepares and presents information at formal review meetings
  • Assists in development of proposals and cost estimates
  • Reviews, comments and approves software life cycle documents and program products
  • Plans and conducts audits of software engineering processes and associated support functions
  • Participates in configuration management activities
  • Reviews deviations and waivers to the software baseline
  • Improves products and processes and manages risk
  • Evaluates validity of test cases against established regulatory and performance requirements
  • Verifies test results
  • Performs final reconciliation of software data products
  • Provides input to program specific software quality requirements for flow down to suppliers
  • Verifies acceptability of supplier's software quality systems and programs
  • Performs software acceptance and delivery activities for low risk procurements
  • Identifies non-conformances and issues corrective actions
  • Reviews and approves corrective and preventive action plans
  • Verifies effectiveness of corrective and preventive action plans
  • Works under general direction

Qualifications 
Basic Qualifications (Required):

  • Active Secret U.S. Security Clearance
  • Experience working with the software development process
  • Experience applying Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) processes to engineering development and manufacturing / production efforts
  • Experience with ISO 9001 or AS 9100 Quality Systems
 

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience performing product, process or compliance audits of Quality Management Systems
  • Experience auditing to quality system standards
  • Experience in the inspection of parts, components, assemblies or units
  • Current American Society for Quality (ASQ) Certifications (CQA, CQE or CQT)
  • Current American Society for Quality (ASQ) Certifications (CSDT (Customer and Supplier Data Transmittal tool), CPES (Change Processing and Estimating System), IQDS (Integrated Quality Data System), CQ (ClearQuest), or DOORS (Dynamic Object Oriented Requirements System))
  • Experience in Supplier Quality processes
  • Experience utilizing and following detailed work instructions, reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, or specifications
  • Experience with AS9102 First Article Inspection
  • Experience analyzing supplier proposals
 

Work Authorization:
This position requires an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)

 
 
Typical Education / Experience:

Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 5 or more years' experience, Master's degree with 3 or more years' experience or PhD degree with experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
